ORCA Card now available in Google Wallet

Seattle, Washington [JUNE 24, 2024] ORCA is excited to announce the ability to store and access your ORCA transit card in Google Wallet from your Android and Wear OS devices. Starting today, customers in the Puget Sound region can add their ORCA card to Google Wallet for convenient transit payments.

ORCA customers with Android and Wear OS devices can now easily add their ORCA card to Google Wallet, so they can pay for transport, add money to their account, buy passes, view transactions and check their trip history, all within the Google Wallet app.

“With this feature, we're excited to offer transit customers using Google devices another convenient payment option. Adding your new ORCA card to the Google Wallet app is easy,” said Brittany Esdaile, ORCA Program Director.

Open Google Wallet, select “Add to Wallet,” select your transit pass, search for “ORCA,” tap ORCA, and off you go.

Plus, customers with plastic ORCA cards can easily convert them to digital cards in Google Wallet at no additional cost. If you have an Android phone, you can convert your plastic adult, youth, senior, disability and ORCA LIFT cards to digital cards. Once converted, your plastic card will be deactivated and all passes and balances will be seamlessly transferred to your phone. A new adult digital card added to your Wallet costs the same $3 as buying a plastic ORCA card.

While this innovation provides new convenience for customers who purchase their own ORCA card, it's important to note that the business, school or organization that issues your ORCA card decides whether to enable the card they provide you to add to Google Wallet. Contact your issuing employer, school or organization for more information.

Paying for transport with ORCA through Google Wallet is easy: just wake up your phone screen and tap it on the ORCA card reader.

To use ORCA through Google Wallet, you must have an Android phone and have your ORCA card loaded into the Google Wallet app. You can also connect a Wear OS device to Google Wallet. Please note that this feature is only available for ORCA cards at this time. Google Wallet credit and debit cards cannot be used to pay for transit fares in the Puget Sound area.

This new feature is supported by all seven participating transit agencies, including Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and Washington State Ferries.

To ensure the best experience, customers are also encouraged to link their digital ORCA card to their ORCA account on the myORCA app or myORCA.com.
