A person familiar with the matter told Reuters the upgrade will be called “Remarkable Alexa.”

Amazon's Alexa has been available to customers for nearly a decade and has since been built into many of the company's devices, while generative AI has only continued to grow since the release of OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT in November 2022.

Amazon announced last year that it would cut “hundreds” of jobs within its Alexa division.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to Fox Business that the cuts come as the company “shifts some of its efforts to better align with our business priorities and what we know is most important to our customers, including maximizing resources and efforts focused on generative AI.”
