Disney Springs introduces unusual Lego-style blocks made from meteorites

ORLANDO, Fla. — An unusual new Lego building block made from meteorite dust is on display in Orlando, according to a company spokesman.

Lego announced in a press release that scientists at the European Space Agency have taken inspiration from Lego bricks to design launch pads and shelters for astronauts as part of the Artemis space program.

But building materials can't be brought to the moon, so ESA researchers are looking into whether materials already in space can be used for construction.

As a result, scientists have created tiny pieces that resemble Lego blocks and can be used to build scaled-down versions of various structures.

The problem is that these bricks were made from meteorite dust 4.5 billion years ago.

According to LEGO officials, ESA scientists discovered an ancient meteorite that crashed into North Africa more than 20 years ago, and then used meteorite dust to 3D print these LEGO-inspired blocks.

According to the release, the completed ESA Space Brick is on display in select LEGO stores in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Spain and Australia, as well as at the LEGO House in Denmark.

One of these Lego stores is Disney Springs in Orlando, where Lego bricks will be on display until September 20th.
