GFN Thursday: Resident Evil Village

Get ready to feel the chill in the summer heat as Capcom's award-winning Resident Evil Village brings a scary vibe to the crowds this GFN Thursday, one of three new games joining GeForce NOW this week.

The new app updates also bring visual enhancements for members and offer new ways to curate your GeForce NOW game library.

Resident Evil Village, Capcom's sequel to the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, is a gripping blend of survival horror and action. Play as Ethan Winters, a father desperate to rescue his kidnapped daughter.

Set in a horrifying European village overrun with mutant creatures, the game features intriguing characters, including the enigmatic Lady Dimitrescu, who resides in the dark halls of a grand castle. Fight off hordes of werewolf villagers, grotesque monsters, and other enemies.

The game combines classic survival horror tactics such as resource management and exploration with action featuring intense combat and numerous enemies.

Ultimate and Priority members can experience the horrors of this dark, twisted world in chilling detail with support for ray tracing and high dynamic range (HDR), giving them the most realistic shadows and sharpest visual fidelity as they navigate its eerie corridors. Members can get a taste of the terror in the Resident Evil Village demo before taking on the towering Lady Dimitrescu in the full game, all seamlessly streamed from NVIDIA GeForce RTX-powered servers in the cloud.

The latest GeForce NOW app update, version 2.0.64, adds support for 10-bit color precision, available to Ultimate members, improving image quality when streaming on Windows, macOS, and NVIDIA SHIELD TV.

It's currently under development.

10-bit color precision greatly improves the accuracy and richness of color gradients while streaming. Members will especially notice the effect in scenes with subtle color changes, such as vibrant skies, dimly lit interiors, and various loading screens and menus. This is useful for non-HDR displays and non-HDR games. The setting can be found in the GeForce NOW app > Streaming Quality > Color Precision. The recommended default value is 10-bit.

Try it out in the neon-lit cities of Cyberpunk 2077 to experience smoother color transitions, or journey through the diverse landscapes of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and other games for a more immersive streaming experience.
