BUCKTOWN: Yolk Test Kitchen, a six-year-old branch of brunch restaurant chain Yolk, closed its doors at 1767 N. Milwaukee Avenue on Sunday, June 23, reports Block Club Chicago. The spacious, industrial-style location, a fan-favorite for generous portions of eggs Benedict and red velvet French toast, also served as a space for the company to test new recipes and get feedback from patrons. Yolk first opened in Chicago's South Loop in 2006 and has grown significantly in the decades since, now with nearly a dozen locations around Chicago, as well as locations in Indiana, Florida and Texas.

LAKEVIEW: Lost Reef, the cocktail spot with an aquarium, will close after a year and a half on Saturday, June 19, owners announced on social media in early June. Founded by the team behind Cheese Pub and Grub, Lost Reef served up fancy cocktails, not to mention 2,500 gallons of fish and coral in eight saltwater tanks, in the former Slice of Cheese location at 964 W. Belmont Ave. On Instagram, reps are posting discounts on reserve wines and premium liquors and encouraging fans to clear the bar before the closure.

LINCOLN PARK: Argot, the intimate French bistro inside the Chicago branch of retail mini-chain Verve Wine, is closing after less than a year in business at 2349 N. Lincoln Ave., a rep announced on Instagram on Wednesday, June 19. The wine shop will remain open, and staff plans to use Argot's former location for public and private events. “We sincerely thank all of our incredible guests for all of the love and support we've received over the past nine months. Unfortunately, the level of business we've had thus far simply cannot support continued operations,” the rep wrote.

HUMBOLDT PARK: After two years in operation at the Succulent City Plant Store at 2540 W. Division St., non-alcoholic beverage retailer Bendy Sin Bottle Shop closed its permanent location on Saturday, June 15, according to Block Club. Owner Christina Torres told reporters that after struggling with sluggish sales and foot traffic in recent months, she was moving online with local delivery and pick-up.

EVANSTON: 527 Cafe, a suburban restaurant specializing in bubble tea, Taiwanese and Chinese cuisine, closed in early June after 15 years at 527 Davis St. due to the owner's retirement, the owners announced on Facebook.

EVANSTON: Suburban Thai stalwart Cozy Noodles & Rice will close at the end of June after more than 20 years at 1018 Davis Street, according to the Evanston Round Table. Owners Bee Nanakorn and Ee Muenprasitthivej founded the restaurant in 2001 and have decorated the space with a vast collection of memorabilia, including vintage lunchboxes, Pez dispensers and a life-size Elvis statue. Nanakorn told reporters that rising rents forced them to close, but she and Muenprasitthivej would be interested in reopening in a new location.
