NASA has developed a flight simulator that shows what it would be like to fly an air taxi

NASA researchers have developed a custom virtual reality (VR) flight simulator to study air taxi passenger experiences. The tool will collect data to design more comfortable aircraft for future air taxi services. Test pilot Wayne Ringelberg of NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center in California recently completed a test run of the new simulator. His feedback will guide adjustments before the first research study opens to other users later this year.

Ringelberg explained that the project will utilize an air crew of researchers and test pilots with vertical takeoff and landing experience to validate the safety and precision of the laboratory. The experiments will provide the advanced air mobility community with information about the acceptability of the maneuvers these aircraft can perform.

In the simulator, Ringelberg was strapped into a seat on a platform and wore a VR headset and headphones. His simulation began with a takeoff from a conceptual vertical landing pad above a parking garage in downtown San Francisco, then flew through the city and landed on another vertical landing pad on a high-rise building. Throughout the flight, he rated the realism of the simulation's visual, motion, and audio cues and provided feedback to the research team.

With the pilot checkout complete, NASA researchers plan to conduct a series of human research studies over the next four years. These studies aim to glean insights into what makes flying in an air taxi comfortable and enjoyable for passengers. The simulator is part of NASA Armstrong's VR Passenger Ride Lab and combines VR visuals, physical movement cues, and spatialized rotor sounds to create an immersive experience.

The project is managed by NASA's Advanced Aircraft Program's Revolutionary Vertical Lift Technology project in support of the agency's advanced air mobility mission, whose goal is to provide data to guide the development of electric air taxis and drones and to foster the growth of advanced air mobility technologies.

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
