Are you looking forward to the Google Pixel 9 launch event in August?

It's no secret that Google's annual hardware refresh tends to leak well in advance. If you don't remember, our first look at this year's Pixel 8a actually came before the Pixel 8 series launched last year. Throughout 2024, we could learn virtually everything about the Pixel 9 trio, or the Pixel Fold 2 four if it's renamed. In fact, until this week, it seemed like all we didn't know was that Google was planning to move up its annual October event to mid-August.

In case you missed this week's big announcements, we're less than two months away from the unveiling of new phones, watches, and more from Google. We also saw the first official teaser for the Pixel 9 Pro, showing off the rumored redesigned camera bar, promising to be the biggest design change since the Pixel 6. From the Razr announcement this week to the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked, an already busy summer for hardware is about to get even busier.

But now, with the next round of Google hardware unexpectedly on the way, it's time to find out if AP readers are actually excited about the event. With four smartphones, two watches and possibly a successor to the Pixel Buds Pro rumored to be unveiled in Mountain View in August, the lineup is a bit too complicated to ask which gadgets you're most looking forward to. Instead, we're curious whether readers are excited about the event as a whole, especially in light of the current set of rumors.

For those uninformed, it looks like Google will be releasing four different Pixel 9 units: the regular model that will succeed the Pixel 8, the Pixel 9 Pro with a smaller-than-usual display, the Pixel 9 Pro XL that will take the regular Pro spot, and the Pixel Fold 2, which may or may not be called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. With just a year to go, Google's smartphone lineup will officially come together, and with the addition of the Pixel Watch 3 and (finally!) the Pixel Watch 3 XL, things are really starting to pick up steam.

Personally, I'm excited for one big (or really, one small) reason: the little Pixel 9 Pro. Since last fall, when I'm not reviewing phones, I've been using the Pixel 8 (and more recently the Pixel 8a) on a daily basis, mostly because I think the size is perfect. Combine this form factor with a better camera lineup and a matte glass finish, and it just might be the perfect phone for me.
