Colibri has announced that it will open its first autonomous store under the Colibri Express brand on one of Grupo Brisas' highways in Portugal.

It is located on the A1 towards Lisbon, at Colibri de Pombal, and was created in partnership with Sensei.

“Customers have access to a wide range of products and making a purchase only requires three steps: they open the door with their bank card, choose the product they want, leave the store and receive their invoice in digital format,” said Jos Maria Almeida Lima, general manager of Brisa Service Areas.

In a LinkedIn post, Sensei said: “The first self-driving store on a Portuguese highway. Non-stop pit stops. No queues. Always on the move.”

Portuguese multinational energy company Galp has launched its new Smart Store service at the Catlica Lisbon School of Business and Economics in Portugal.

Autonomous location is made possible by Senseis technology.

In a LinkedIn post, Maria Estaleja, Executive Director of the Retail Innovation Lab (RIL) at Católica Lisboa's School of Business and Economics, said: “We are pleased to announce the opening of our autonomous Galp smart store at Católica Lisboa last week, which will allow us to offer improved services to our valued students, while also becoming a research lab for RIL.”

She added: “This project was only possible thanks to the hard work and collaboration of RIL, Catlica Lisbon, Galp and Sensei.”

GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics

GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics, developer of the bipedal mobile manipulator robot (MMR), Digit, have signed a multi-year agreement to deploy Digit across GXO Logistics' logistics operations.

The partnership will follow a proof-of-concept pilot in the second half of 2023 and is proposed as both the industry's first formal commercial deployment of a humanoid robot, and the first Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) deployment of a humanoid robot.

Adrian Stoch, chief automation officer at GXO, said: “Building on the success of our groundbreaking pilot with Agility last year, we have now deployed a fully functional Digit humanoid into a real warehouse environment.”
