6 ways Google AI makes your Pixel even more useful

Many of the Pixel features you're familiar with are powered by AI. Last year, we showed you seven examples, from Magic Eraser to Real Tone, and we've come a long way since then. Here are six ways our work in artificial intelligence is making Pixel even more useful.

1. Quickly summarize web pages with Gemini, your personal AI assistant

If you just want the gist of an English webpage, avoid the hassle of scrolling and skimming with the help of Gemini. Call upon Gemini to scan the text of the entire page and create a short summary of the main points that you can read in seconds.

How it works: On Android, you can use Gemini as your mobile assistant. Once set up on your Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, or Pixel 8 Pro, open a webpage in Google Chrome and launch Gemini by pressing and holding the navigation bar (the horizontal line at the bottom of your Pixel screen). Then, when the overlay appears on your screen, ask Gemini to summarize the article. You can also launch Gemini by voice by saying “Hey Google.”

2. Shoot a video and adjust the sound later with Audio Magic Eraser

You were recording a video of yourself celebrating your best friend's birthday, but a dog barking in the background ruined your favorite take. With Audio Magic Eraser, you can turn down the dog or any other sound you don't want to hear in the background so you can send your video with the best audio possible.

How it works: Record a video with your Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, or Pixel 8 Pro. Then go to Google Photos, select the video and click “Edit.” You'll see a number of different options at the bottom of the screen, including “Video,” “Crop,” “Audio,” and “Adjust.” Tapping on “Audio” will launch the Audio Magic Eraser feature, which identifies different categories of audio in your video, including people speaking, wind noise, and nature sounds. Select “Auto” to let your Pixel improve the audio, or lower certain sounds and select an audio to tune it to your liking. When you're happy, tap “Done.”

3. Circle to Search for detailed information on the screen

You're watching a YouTube Shorts video, reading an article, or just poring over something on your phone and you want to know more about what you're looking at. On Pixel 6 and up, you can tap, highlight, circle or doodle anywhere on the screen to get more information without having to switch apps.

How it works: Press and hold the navigation bar and circle or highlight the video, image or text you want to know more about. You can also add context, such as “Where can I get a similar shirt?”, in the search bar at the bottom of the screen to refine your search and get the best results.

4. Proofread in Gboard to check your text for errors

If you're like me and tend to type quickly and hit send before realizing an embarrassing typo, Gboard with Gen AI can help. With Gboard's proofreading feature, you can remove typos, grammar, and punctuation errors with just one tap before sending.

How it works: Install Gboard on your Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, or Pixel 8 Pro and draft your text. If the feature finds an error, you'll immediately see a suggestion bar.[修正]A tip will appear.
