O2 and Amazon

O2 is set to become one of more than a dozen third-party venues across the UK to offer Amazon's Just Walk Out technology by the end of the year.

It will be the first indoor arena in England to deploy the solution, and the new outlets will allow visitors to tap their card or mobile wallet to pick up their favourite drink or snack before quickly returning to their seat.

O2 joins a growing list of UK venues which have opened stores using Just Walk Out technology, including ExCeL London and the SSE Arena.

John Jenkins, vice president of Just Walk Out technology, said: “We have stores in corporate headquarters such as Bentley Motors and Santander Bank, as well as Amazon's headquarters in London.”

It also has stores in hospitals and universities, including Telford Hospital and the University of Sussex, and recently opened a store at the Gridserve EV station at Gatwick Airport, with more Gridserve stores due to open later this year.

By the end of 2024, it will be available in over 12 third-party stores across the UK, as well as all 20 Amazon Fresh stores in the UK.
