My Business Notifications Google API: 403 Caller Unauthorized

I am trying to set up an API with functionality to get reviews from Google Locations. Most of the API is working, which means I have the OAuth2 client set up correctly.

Currently we are trying to set up pub/sub notifications to receive push notifications on the webhook endpoint of our API, I have searched for hours but still can't figure out why I am getting a 403 error.

I'm pretty sure I have everything configured as instructed in the documentation, so my last option (the last option would be to ask Google, but I'm not expecting to get an answer) is to ask you guys for help.

I had already gone to the MyBusiness API and enabled the API (mybusinessnotifications.googleapis.com/v1), so I followed the instructions in the documentation.

Application configured Pub/sub topic created [email protected] pubsub.topics.publish permission. To be sure, I also tried with admin permissions as shown in the image below: Pub/sub level: pub/sub permissions Project level: project permissions I created a subscription (but it's not really relevant for this issue) I made a request with PATCH https://mybusinessnotifications.googleapis.com/v1/accounts/-/notificationSetting?updateMask=notificationSetting and received the following response: { “error”: { “status”: “PERMISSION_DENIED”, “message”: “Caller does not have permission”, “code”: 403 } }

Just to be sure I was doing everything correctly, I went ahead and tried the same request in Google's OAuth 2.0 playground and got the exact same response, confirming that the issue was in my codebase.

Here's the body to send with each PATCH request:

However, I've also tried calling the endpoint by specifying the name and notificationTypes attributes as well.

Google's documentation is severely out of date and I'm running out of options and ideas to try.
