Google requires the use of a CDN and one of your robots.txt files, which redirects you to the CDN

Do you use a CDN for some or all of your website and would like to manage just one robots.txt file rather than managing both the CDN's robots.txt file and your main site's robots.txt file? Google's Gary Illyes suggests that you can simply redirect your main robots.txt to the CDN and control it there.

You have a CDN and you have your main site. You have two robots.txt files: one at https//cdnexamplecom/robots.txt and one at https//wwwexamplecom/robots.txt. Having just one central robots.txt with all your rules, including your CDN, helps you keep track of all the rules you need to manage. All you need to do is redirect https//wwwexamplecom/robots.txt to https//cdnexamplecom/robots.txt. Any crawler that complies with RFC9309 will use the robotstxt file at https//wwwexamplecom/ as the redirect target. Weird, right?

Now, this is not an SEO ranking tip. This is just a way to keep everything under one robots.txt so that you don't have to manage multiple robots.txt. This will not improve your rankings.

I'm currently waiting to see an ad for an SEO service to move my robots.txt file to a CDN. Again, this gives you no SEO or ranking benefits, just makes it easier if you want to keep one file. Of course, if you ever leave that CDN you'll have to deal with that, but it's not that different from moving to a new host.
