Private Google Spreadsheet CRUD Methods – Tutorials and Guides

Hi everyone, I'm sure many of you are familiar with the CRUD methods by @TIMAI2, but while using it I came across an issue where I need to make the Google sheet public, so I was wondering how to protect the data and prevent it from being edited by outsiders (strangers).

For this reason, I recreated the CRUD methods using Google Apps Script for private/public Google Spreadsheets.

Here is the Google Apps Script (I posted the Google Doc because I wanted to keep it short and as simple as possible):

Don't forget to create a new deployment, set it to your web app, make it accessible to anyone and run it against you.

A few observations:

The assertion you make in your first paragraph is incorrect. The methods I've provided in my three CRUD guides work with private (restricted) or public (anyone with the link) Google Sheets that are owned or shared with the Google account that created the App Script. This is documented in each of my guides. Please correct your first paragraph to avoid confusion for others. (You may also need to adjust the topic title.)

Looking at your script, it looks like you're creating a separate Google Apps Script project for each function – adding unnecessary complexity and duplication for developers when everything could be handled within one Google Apps Script – something you should take into consideration as you continue your development.

If a developer needs to make a change, you should advise them how to update or create a new version of the script, so that the URL of the script changes with the new deployment.
