Amazon appoints new group of government, tech cloud leaders

Amazon is putting a pretty big spotlight on a group of government technology suppliers and users that are pioneers and advocates.

Members of the new group will use cloud computing services from one of the most important parts of Amazon's business, Amazon Web Services, a business unit that is becoming an increasingly powerful force in the public sector, in part by driving the development of artificial intelligence.

The recognition, called the AWS Champions Program, highlights individuals and groups who are using the cloud to improve outcomes, build resilience, and accelerate progress in service to their missions, constituents, and communities, according to a blog post by Jan Day, higher education alliances and community manager for the AWS Education, State and Local Government Executive Advisory Team.
