Zenly, a position sharing app owned by Snapchat, has changed its rankings to keep people at home during the coronavirus outbreak. The app usually allows friends to share their location with each other and lets others know when they’re dating. However, because of COVID-19, things have changed and getting out is not something anyone should do.
Zenly was acquired by Snapchat in 2017, for a considerable amount of $ 213 million. The app is similar to the way the Foursquares Swarm app works – mainly around location sharing and recording together in different places. For its new Stay at Home challenge, Zenly is encouraging people to stay at home and rise to the top of the rankings. The ranking can be shared on various social networks, as well as coronavirus prevention tips now available in the application.
Zenly also launched a coronavirus lens feature last week. With this feature, users can view the map and find out the number of confirmed or recovered coronavirus cases in each country or city, as well as data from WHO and other sources. Snapchat has a similar map in its app that shows the locations of friends and heat maps for stories around the world, but it hasn’t added support to display data related to the coronavirus yet.
