Apple Event 2020: Is Apple AirTags Tracker Finally Available?

Published

on

When will Apple Air Tags be displayed?

Apple This article is part of an Apple event and covers all the latest news from Apple headquarters.

At a virtual event on Tuesday, Apple will announce the new Apple Watch and iPad, along with the release dates for iOS 14, iPadOS, WatchOS, and MacOS Big Sur. Apple may finally debut its long-rumored smart tracker tag rival, which is rumored to be called Air Tags. The tag was hinted at in iOS 13 code last summer, but rumors spread before the software arrived.

When Apple announced new ultra-wideband (UWB) technology on the iPhone 11 model last year, speculation grew that Apple could release a popular tracker from competitor Tile.

The rumored AirTags may look similar to iBeacon, Apple’s first implementation of Bluetooth low-energy wireless technology in iOS 7 in 2014. Beacons were small, inexpensive Bluetooth transmitters intended to provide location and services to the iPhone. For example, if a retailer’s shop has a beacon and you have the retailer’s app, you may see a special offer alert when you go through the shop.

However, the rumored new tracker tag may behave a bit differently. Like tile tags, you can clip AirTags to keys, bags, children’s toys, etc., or put them in your wallet or passport. It can also be attached to devices, remote controls, outdoor equipment, and other small electronic devices to allow you to track a variety of items.

Nothing has been officially confirmed so far, but Apple has removed some breadcrumbs to show that this product is possible. Apple did not respond to requests for comment.

Here’s all the rumors we’ve heard about Apple’s possible tracker tag technology.

Not a rumor: will be named AirTags

The name AirTags appeared in an Apple support video discovered by Appleosophy that surfaced in April, showing users how to erase their iPhones and restore them to factory settings. In this video, it’s currently listed as private on YouTube, so the demonstrator is in the phone settings.[iPhoneを探す]When you go to the page, you will see an option to enable offline search for “This device and AirTags”.

The name AirTags was previously discovered by 9to5Mac in the iOS 13.2 release last October. On the file system, the folder for the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system was labeled “AirTag.” It’s reportedly paired with an iPhone like AirPods and you can use the Find My app to track items.

Rumor: Battery

According to the MacRumors March Report, Apple’s rumored tile tracker rivals can be powered by removable CR2032 coin cell batteries like the Tile Pro. The CR2032 is non-rechargeable and needs to be replaced. MacRumors suggested that the battery could be removed or replaced by loosening the screw on the back of the tile tracker.

Earlier rumors pointed to tile trackers with an Apple Watch-style magnetic charging mechanism. That is, you may see two different models of tile trackers.

Rumor: Waterproof

In February, the Japanese blog Macotakara reported an anonymous source, stating that the tracker device will be announced in the fall of 2020. The blog said the tags will be completely waterproof.

Rumor: Setup process

MacRumors reports that the screenshots displayed last October show an updated version of the Find My app. One of the screenshots published by MacRumors bears the Apple logo. Below the logo, the screen will display “New Tag Settings”. Other screenshots show the steps to pull the tag tab to move it closer to the iPhone and start the addition process. The screenshot references the tag with codename B389.

Rumor: Tag design

After Apple’s June 2019 WWDC keynote, developer Steve Moser discovered “Tag 1.1” in the first iOS 13 code and began whispering about the company developing its own alternative to the Tile tracker. I did. Further examination of the original internal build revealed that the tracker was small, round, and likely to have the Apple logo in the center.

Rumor: What the tag can track

If the tracker tags mirror the tiles, they may be able to clip to different items. The iOS 13 code suggests that the tags are battery-powered and can be attached to items such as keys, handbags, backpacks, etc., which can help you find them if they are lost. .. Tracker tags have been reported to be able to pair with your iCloud account by being close to your iPhone or other Apple device.

Reportedly, you’ll be notified when your device is too far from the tag, so you won’t lose anything. If the tagged item is in a location you have set as a safe location, the app will not notify you. When you tap the button on the phone app, the tag may chime. Putting an item in “lost mode” may allow other iPhone users to contact you if you find a lost item.

Tags and apps may also include augmented reality features to help you find lost items. According to MacRumors reports, an internal build of iOS 13 shows a red floating AR balloon above the area when people are looking at the screen of the app, helping to get a more accurate position.

Thomas Northcutt / Getty Images Rumors: New Phone U1 Chip Preparing Other Apple Products For Tags

Apple added a new chip to the phone when it debuted a new phone line at the iPhone 11 event in September 2019. MacRumors reports that the U1 chip utilizes ultra-wideband technology and can provide “living room scale GPS” to improve the accuracy of locating other Apple devices with U1. doing. This isn’t a tracker tag check, but it seems that Apple is laying the foundation for new devices.

Older iPhones don’t have a U1 chip, so it’s likely that Apple will provide trackers with both Bluetooth and UWB technologies to work with models other than the iPhone 11. However, the new model may be able to more accurately identify the device to be tracked. Bluetooth can track items within about 5 meters, while UWB can track items up to a distance of 5-10 cm.
