The six months of the coronavirus pandemic have completely changed the way British people shop. According to a survey by e-commerce agency Melody, 81% of us remain the same.
The company surveyed more than 2,000 shoppers and found that the number of people buying on Amazon jumped from 19% in April to 29% in September.
In addition, from 12% who thought so six months ago, 20% believe that they will maintain that habit after the pandemic.

18% say they will continue to buy items online that they would have previously purchased on High Street when things return to normal. Currently, 25% of people over the age of 55 are shopping further on Amazon, and 18% believe they will continue to shop in the post-pandemic world.
Twenty-eight percent of respondents in that age group buy products that they previously bought on the main street online, and 22% plan to continue that habit after the pandemic.
Meanwhile, independent retailers are becoming more and more popular with British shoppers. Eighteen percent of those surveyed shop more often at these stores, and 14% will continue to shop after the pandemic has subsided.
The study also found that one in five British people do not think any high street shop is doing a good job when it comes to consumer coronavirus health and safety concerns. The top 60% of supermarkets say they are working well, but 22% are garden centers, 20% are high street shops, and 16% are shopping centers / malls.
