Microsoft Windows 10 Dockable Information Bar Now Available in Beta

Microsoft is releasing a new Windows 10 app called “Windows News Bar” that will display an anchored bar containing Microsoft News and act as a stock picker for monitored stocks.

Previously spotted by a Windows detective WalkingCat in February, the Microsoft Store page was recently updated with screenshots of the program currently in use.

The News Bar is being developed via Microsoft News, where they declare that the proposed news will be disseminated by more than 4,500 news agencies.

Windows Information Bar Test

At run time, the news bar allows you to display a docked bar at the top, bottom, left or right of the screen that contains a continuously updated list of news based on your selected region.

BleepingComputer has tested the application and you can see below the different ways to dock the information bar. The image at the bottom right also shows you how it looks with transparency enabled.

When you click on stories, the selected articles will be loaded in Windows 10 default browser.

The settings in the news bar will allow you to customize where the bar is docked, whether you want to display images or text, and whether the bar should be transparent.

The news bar requires Windows 10 update for April 2018 or later and is currently in beta. To install it, users must “Use a code” and it is not known when it will be available to the public.
