Some Xbox games don’t support the Series X / S Quick Resume feature and don’t show any warnings

One of the latest features on both the Xbox Series S and Series X is Quick Resume. This feature allows players to seamlessly switch between multiple games by pausing them, effectively reducing the waiting time before returning to action. However, this feature doesn’t seem to be universal, as some games don’t support Xbox Quick Resume.

In our tests, there are at least three games that don’t seem to work on the Xbox Quick Resume. This includes Borderlands 3, Destiny 2, Yakuza: Like A Dragon. For example, Borderlands 3 just pauses and then reloads from the Start screen. This contradicts the Quick Resume feature, which picks up the game immediately from where the player last left the game.

There may be other games that don’t support quick resume. According to True Achievements, Dirt 5, Forza Horizon 4, NBA 2K21, The Falconeer, Watch Dogs: Legion all seem to not work with this feature. Loading games on the Xbox Series S / Series X is still fast, but switching from or undoing any of these titles can lead to loss of progress. The problem is further complicated by the fact that the player doesn’t get a warning before switching from the game in question, so the player can’t see if Xbox Quick Resume is supported.

Microsoft is aware of the Quick Resume issue and has revealed that this feature has been disabled in some titles while working to resolve the issue at the platform level. There is no confirmation as to when quick resume will be enabled in the games mentioned above.

Meanwhile, in a review of the Xbox Series S, Higham said the smaller next-generation consoles are still punching, despite the obvious gaps in the graphic details.
