Google is hiding "coronavirus" apps from the Play Store and it's not the only one
Google appears to have hidden apps related to the coronavirus in search results in the Google Play Store.
The change, as reported by 9to5Google, is probably an attempt to stop the spread of disinformation about the virus.
At the time of writing, searches for "coronavirus" and "Covid-19" (the official name for the disease caused by the virus) have produced no results. Such searches have worked as expected until very recently, and a "covid" search reveals dozens of applications containing both terms.
Some virus protection apps can be mild or even useful guides, with information on how to wash your hands properly and how to quarantine yourself. However, apps could also be used to spread erroneous information which at best is not useful and at worst is dangerous.
It is also possible that unethical developers are trying to take advantage of the crisis, by offering very simple applications that contain little information, and are mainly a means of serving ads or convincing users worried about signing up for premium features.
Stop the spread
Google is not the only tech company to step in to curb the spread of misleading information about the virus.
Last year Pinterest decided to intervene when users are looking for information on vaccinations and cancer, displaying only information from reputable medical publications. Now he's taken the same approach with the coronavirus, showing a set of information cards created by the World Health Organization (WHO) offering advice on limiting the spread of the virus.
Facebook takes a similar approach. Mark zuckerberg says the social network offers free advertising space to WHO and redirects searches for "coronavirus" to information from WHO or a local health authority.
False allegations and conspiracy theories will be quickly removed, and anyone trying to exploit the situation by announcing miracle cures will have their accounts blocked.
Twitter doesn't go as far as blocking content, and a virus scan reveals tweets containing all kinds of false information (including a tutorial on making an effective face mask using a piece of paper hygienic and elastic).
These are preceded by a notification box titled “ Know the facts '' & amp; # 39; with a link to a verified local health care provider, but the site could choose to follow the example of Google and Facebook, and tighten up its policy in the coming weeks.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
