Low intensity earthquake hits Delhi, no injuries or losses أو

NEW DELHI, June 20 (IANS) A low-magnitude earthquake of 2.1 magnitude hit the Punjab Bagh district of western Delhi on Sunday, the National Center of Seismology said.

The earthquake hit the area at 12.02 pm. However, there were no reports of injuries or property losses.

According to the National Seismology Center, the epicenter was at 28.67 degrees north latitude and 77.14 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 7 km.

Delhi falls under the fourth of the five seismic zones. It is rare for Delhi to be the epicenter of an earthquake. However, the city feels the earthquakes when an earthquake occurs as far as Central Asia or in the Himalayas mountain range, which is a high seismic zone.

Strong tremors were felt for several seconds in Delhi and its surroundings in February this year also following a strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake in Tajikistan – about 1,200 km from the national capital.
