Low-magnitude earthquake strikes near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh

An earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale struck Baboombar in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck Babombar at 06:09 at a depth of 10 km, and no injuries were reported so far.

Earlier, an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit Okrol district in Manipur on Sunday.

According to the National Center of Seismology (NCS), the earthquake struck 20 km northwest of Shiroi at 1:22 at a depth of 30 km, and a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Assam in the early hours of Saturday, the fifth of its kind to hit the region. Officials said the northeastern region during the past 24 hours.

A report by the National Seismology Center said that the latest quake was recorded at 1.07 a.m., with its epicenter near Tezpur, the headquarters of the Suntpur district, at a depth of 30 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of injury or property damage.

Two additional quakes rocked the state, one of them with a magnitude of 4.1, early Friday morning, with its epicenter also in the Suntpur region.

Besides Assam, a magnitude 3 earthquake with an epicenter in the Chandel district of Manipur was recorded on Friday, and another quake with a magnitude of 2.6 was recorded in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

No loss of life or property was reported in any of the earthquakes.

The northeastern region is located above a high seismic zone, which makes it prone to earthquakes.

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Assam on April 28.
