Mariana Trench: A record of a voyage to the bottom of the ocean – BBC News

 



An American explorer descended nearly 11km (seven miles) to the deepest part of the ocean – the Mariana Trench in the Pacific.

Victor Vescovo spent four hours in danger of sinking to the bottom of the trench if anything went wrong.

The dive was verified to be 10,972 m long and Victor became the first person to reach the deepest side of the Pacific Ocean.
