3.5-magnitude earthquake strikes near Fontana – San Bernardino Sun

A 3.5-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter near Fontana jolted some Southern Californians awake early Saturday morning.

The intensity of the quake was felt at 1:22 a.m. in Inner Valley cities such as Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Chino, San Bernardino and Riverside, the US Geological Survey said. However, residents along the coast from southern Orange County to Malibu were shaken by the earthquake.

The USGS said the quake was recorded about four miles northwest of Fontana, along Highland Avenue, near Interstate 210.

A magnitude 3 earthquake also shook near the running springs, shaking San Bernardino’s mountain communities like Arrowhead Lake and Sky Forest.

No damage or injuries were reported to San Bernardino County fire authorities.

Last week, another small earthquake of magnitude 3.2 shook near Los Angeles International Airport in El Segundo.
