Coronavirus: 33 million Americans lose their jobs in the US crisis – BBC News

More than 33 million Americans have lost their jobs in the last 7 weeks, roughly 1 in 5 workers. The job is devastating as the unemployment rate was 50 weeks low.

France, meanwhile, will begin lifting what was once one of Europe’s toughest blockades on Monday. Most businesses will reopen and people will be able to leave home without permission.

Different assessments are being given in different areas of the town, and some, like in Paris, have to wait longer to ease the restrictions.

Sophie Raworth has presented BBC News’s Ten Reports of Nick Bryant in New York, and Lucy Williamson in Paris.
