Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes Bikaner, Rajasthan, takes second place in two days

An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit Bikaner in Rajasthan early Thursday morning, the National Center of Seismology said. There were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 struck Bikaner district of Rajasthan early Thursday morning. This is the second day in a row that the Bikaner earthquake has hit.

The National Center for Seismology said Thursday that a 4.8-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Bikaner at 7.42 am.

There were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property.

Earthquakes were felt Wednesday in Bikaner and nearby areas of Rajasthan after a moderate earthquake hit Pakistan. The tremors lasted a few seconds, and no damage was reported in the state.

The epicenter of the 5.3-magnitude earthquake was in Pakistan, the agency said. She added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 110 km.

The epicenter was 343 km west-northwest of Bikaner and 439 km northwest of Jodhpur.
