The government has said it will act with “extreme caution” in lifting the blockade. Ministers have stressed that it will be a gradual process, and it is not the only leap to freedom. As the prime minister prepares to tackle the nation, it comes as a way to determine the next phase in tackling coronavirus pandemics.
Meanwhile, major airline companies have asked for clarification after the government said anyone arriving in the UK would bring a 14-day quarantine, apart from the Republic of Ireland.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has called on people to work and ride their bikes, once easing blockade restrictions in England. He said it was a “generation-to-generation opportunity” to transform the way people around them.
Elderly clergy urge the government to act prudently to allow the reopening of places of worship. All churches, mosques, synagogues and temples closed their doors two months ago.
