The Indian National Center of Seismology (NCS) reported that an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred just 16 minutes ago, 54 kilometers southwest of Faizabad, Afghanistan. Early in the morning on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2:35 a.m. local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter and depth of the earthquake may be reviewed within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and improve their calculations, or when other agencies release their reports. It caused no significant damage, but it was probably felt by many people in the form of a slight vibration in the epicenter area. A weak tremor may have been felt in Rustaq (population 25,600) which is 33 km from the epicenter, and Farkhar (population 10,500) 38 km. Faizabad (population 44,400) is located 54 km from the epicenter, 55 km from Art Khwaja (population. ) 89 km.
