One dead and 2 injured in Vasai factory explosion | Mumbai News

Nimuddin Muhammad Karim Selmani, 18, died, and two others were injured in a wall collapse caused by an explosion at the manufacturing unit of Haft Engineering Company, Tungarvata in Vasai (East), Saturday evening. The export-oriented unit manufactures heat exchangers, finned tubes and other engineering products. The wounded are admitted to a private hospital.

“The explosion in the boiler was so strong that a worker at the neighboring Dolphin Company died after a section of the boundary wall fell on him and he died instantly. An officer from Waleef Police Station said the explosion caused shock waves to the point that some local residents thought it was an earthquake.

So far, we have recorded an accidental death and are waiting for the report of the Directorate of Industrial Security and Health (DISH), Vasai who visited the place to ascertain the cause of the explosion. “We will file a negligence case against the unit owner,” the officer said, adding that they are investigating further.
