Haiti Chapel Gathering Supplies to Help Survivors of the devastating 7.2 earthquake – CBS Miami

Miami (CBS Miami) – A small church in Haiti is collecting supplies for those affected by the devastating and powerful earthquake that struck over the weekend.

Father Reginald Jean-Marie said, “Whatever good things men have, we will be ready to accept them.”

The Notre Dame d’Haiti Church is doing everything it can to help the country.

“Open your hearts, open them and reach out to Haiti so that we can stand on our feet,” said Jean-Marie.

Jean-Marie hopes to get this done quickly because the church accepts things like batteries, lamps, backpacks, and medicine, as well as money.

“The money we raise is not just to buy things on the ground so we can boost the economy but helps us get the things we need to respond directly and accurately to people’s needs,” said Jean-Marie.

The church does not accept things like food because it can be difficult to move it.

In Haiti, the death toll has risen to over 1,000.

The 7.2-magnitude earthquake left thousands more without a roof over their heads as homes were damaged or destroyed.
