A 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck southern Haiti on Saturday night.

Tennessee, US – A 7.2 magnitude earthquake shook Haiti on Saturday, injuring and killing thousands.

Officials reported that thousands of homes were destroyed or damaged by the earthquake, leaving families homeless. Hospitals, schools, offices and churches were destroyed or severely damaged.

Now, the country is preparing for Tropical Storm Grace.

Headquartered in Knoxville, Harvest Field Services was established to train and equip chaplains. The charity’s website said its goals were to care for the vulnerable, create jobs and improve health care, even before the recent earthquake.

“Right now we need as much help as we can. Anything helps now,” said Kobe Dorsley, the Knoxville minister who survived the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

The charity requests volunteers and donations on its website.

Air Mobile Services is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing disaster relief worldwide. It is headquartered in Sneadville.

The nonprofit relocated 10 water purification systems to Haiti shortly after the earthquake.

The Better Business Bureau warns donors of fraudsters trying to profit from destruction abroad.
