Mary Grams, 84, was devastated when she lost her ring in 2004 while growing up on a Alberta family farm.
But he kept a secret loss of the ring from his son for more than a decade.
On Monday, her daughter discovered the secret – and the ring – when she pulled out a carrot.
The carrot grew in a straight ring and allowed it to be hidden in the ground for many years.
She decided shamelessly when she lost her husband, but she told her son.
He went out to buy a cheaper replacement ring and continued as if nothing had happened.
“Maybe I was wrong, but you’re so hard at work,” he said.
No one was more cautious until this week when her daughter Colleen Daley decided she wanted carrots for dinner.
