China’s hidden camps – BBC News

The BBC has new evidence that China is building an extensive camp network for its Muslim population in western Xinjiang. Experts say one of the facilities we have identified could be one of the largest detention centers in the world.

One million Muslims in Uyghur are being tried in Xinjiang.

China has denied the claims, saying it has a program called “vocational training centers” that is needed to deal with the threat of terrorism.

However, the BBC has seen an analysis that suggests the number of safe and secure facilities in the area has doubled in the last two years.

The life accounts of individuals in these places tell of the abuse and humiliation.

These are reports from a country that prevent our Chinese correspondent John Sudworth from trying to film journalists.
