Soleimani: Stampede has killed at least 35 dolores of the commander s burial – BBC News
At least 35 people have been killed in a stampede when Iranians went to bury a top official killed in a U.S. drone strike, Iranian media reports.
The death delayed the burial of Qasem Soleimani. A new era will be announced later, officials say.
Soleimani is taking a break in his hometown of Kermango, which has already packed the streets with millions of funerals already estimated.
His assassination has sparked fears of a conflict between the US and Iran.
Soleimani was the second most powerful man in Iran after the supreme leader Khamenei. The US saw him as a terrorist and a threat to American troops.
President Trump took a tough stance against Iran after the election and Tehran responded with its own campaign. Tensions escalated last month after a U.S.-backed militiaman attacked Iran, which he blamed for attacks by U.S. forces.
It is unclear what effect the stamp had on Kerman, southeastern Iran, but there were plenty of people on the streets before Soleiman’s funeral.
