The US Geological Survey reports that a 3.5-magnitude earthquake occurred just 10 minutes ago, 35 miles northwest of Tonopah, Nevada, United States. , late at night on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:23 p.m. local time. The exact size, center, and depth of the earthquake may be reviewed within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and improve their calculations, or when other agencies release their report. The epicenter (EMSC), which I list as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake also, includes cities or towns close to the epicenter where a very weak tremor may have been felt, Mina (#160) which is 19 miles from the epicenter. At Tonopah (which is 2,500 miles away, 35 miles away), and Hawthorne (which is 3,300 miles away, 47 miles away), the earthquake may not have been felt.

Nevada City, Leon (199.9 km northwest of the epicenter) [Map] /very weak shaking (MMI II)/rattling,shaking/5-10secs: I felt some slight shaking as soon as I think about 10:54pm and it looks like it might last 10-20secs. I was in bed upstairs, and I’m in Virginia, Nevada. I thought it was the dogs scratching but none of us moved. This was very subtle but disturbing. Then I woke up about 3 hours later, it happened much shorter, but I was still unsteady. No household items involved, but I did feel something shaking my house.
