In the first month following the 7.2-magnitude August 14, 2021 earthquake, the Haitian Red Cross Society (HRCS) reached 5,992 households. The field team is reviewing the emergency appeal to include these changes. This process is the implementation of actions in the shelter; livelihoods and basic needs; the health; sewage and hygiene; protection, gender and inclusion; immigration; and disaster risk reduction (DRR). Enabling actions to strengthen National Societies, influence others as strategic partners, and enhance coordination and accountability underpin actions at the sector level.

Led by the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, the IFRC’s network partners in the country and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) continue to coordinate and complete actions. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies will continue to provide membership coordination services while implementing a federation-wide approach to the process.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is reviewing its emergency appeal based on the capacities of the Red Cross Emergency Hospital (RCEH), multi-sectoral assessments, as well as ensuring alignment with the Haitian Red Cross Society’s Action Plan and Federation-wide approach. In addition, thanks to the strong donor response, a loan of 750,000 Swiss francs was renewed for the emergency appeal process.
