UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) — The United Nations team and humanitarian partners in Haiti continue to support government-led efforts to respond to the needs of the half million people affected by the August earthquake, a United Nations spokesperson said Friday. .

Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said that despite the restrictions, 13 emergency medical teams had been set up in the affected area and more than 35 tons of medicines and supplies had been deployed.
