Coronavirus: Italy reduces restrictions. 10 weeks after the world is blocked – BBC News

Ten weeks after becoming the first country to impose a national blockade, Italy has begun easing its coronavirus restrictions. Shops, restaurants, bars and hairdressers are reopening and people are free to travel to their regions.

Italy was the epicenter of 19 European epidemics, killing nearly 32,000 people. This is the lowest daily level of deaths and new cases since the restrictions were imposed.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, the health system of São Paulo’s largest city is collapsing, according to the mayor. Brazil has the fourth largest number of cases in the world and is concerned that in addition to complying with blockade rules in Brazilian cities, it is also the country’s president.

Fiona Bruce presents BBC News in ten reports on Mark Lowen in Italy and Katy Watson in Brazil.
