One-third of coronavirus deaths in England are in diabetes-related hospitals

The NHS has found that almost a third of all coronavirus deaths in hospitals in England are linked to diabetes: for people with type 1 diabetes who are three and a half times more likely to die from the virus than non-diabetics.

The majority of Covid patients with dead diabetes, however, are type 2 diabetics. The risk of death is double that of people with diabetes.

Factors such as age and obesity, which are common in type 2, have a large difference.
