Nevada Governor Steve Sisulack declared a state of emergency on Thursday after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake on May 15 caused widespread damage to roads than originally thought.

The earthquake caused massive damage in the United States 95, Roads 360 and 6 in the provinces of Esmeralda, Mineral, and Nye, according to a press release from the governor’s office. No one was reported injured in the early morning earthquake, the largest in Nevada in six decades, and several major aftershocks followed.

Nevada residents who travel across our state need safe routes. Sisulak said in the statement: “We will do our best to maintain the safety and security of all who travel on our roads.” “This emergency declaration will help the Nevada Department of Transportation respond quickly and efficiently.”
