4.8 magnitude earthquake strikes Swat Valley and adjacent areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

SWAT: Earthquakes measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted Swat and adjacent areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the early hours of Sunday, ARY News reported.

According to the National Seismological Center (NSMC), the average earthquake depth was 120 km and its epicenter was the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan.

No loss of life or property was reported in the quake.

On September 26, an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck the Swat region and adjacent areas.

An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit coastal areas of Karachi, Thatta, Sojwal and Badin in Sindh last Thursday morning.

The earthquake was felt at 09:45:40 am and shook Sugwal, Chohar Jamali, Mirpur Baturu, Jati and other nearby coastal areas.

In Karachi, earthquakes were felt in New Shali, Pakistani Chowk and other parts of the city.

According to the National Seismological Center in Islamabad, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 50 kilometers southwest of Badin city at a depth of 17 kilometers.

People came out of their homes and shops in panic amid the earthquakes. No casualties were reported in the moderate-intensity quake.

The Harnai earthquake in Balochistan last month on 7 October killed at least 22 people and injured more than 200.

The deadly earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit other parts of Balochistan including Quetta in the early hours.

The tremors were felt at about 3:01 pm in Sibi, Bichin, Muslim Bagh, Saifullah Fort, Kashlak, Harnai and the surrounding areas.
