Visakhapatnam: Mild tremors occurred in several districts of Visakhapatnam on Sunday morning around 7.13 am. Panicked residents ran out of their homes. Tremors were felt in Akyayapalim, Madhuranagar, Beach Road, Thatchitlapalim, Alipuram, Aslamita, Sethamidhara, Gurudwara, Muralinagar, Madurawada, Kumadi, Smashalam, Gubalapatnam and a few other areas in Vizag city. Netizens reported hearing a loud explosion and experiencing earthquakes. Harish N, a resident of Madurawada in the city of Visac, told TOI, “I was reading the newspaper on Sunday morning when I felt a small explosion and some earthquakes. However, I did not run out of the house because I had not witnessed such an incident in about a decade.” The sources said that several minor earthquakes with a magnitude of more than 3.0 occurred in the city of Vizag during the past seven days. The largest earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale was reported Sunday morning and the epicenter was about 9.2 km northeast of the city’s Jaguaca districts. However, there were no reports of injuries, loss of life or property damage.
