Earthquake training conducted on the Tokyo Expressway

Tokyo emergency authorities conducted joint highway and highway drills based on the scenario of a major earthquake under the capital.

After ensuring safety, a convoy of 12 cars, including a fire truck, headed to the city center.

In the event of a major earthquake, traffic on major highways and national highways in the capital will be restricted except for those permitted by the Tokyo metropolitan government.

Participants trained in emergency procedures at 106 locations, including crossings on national highways.

Minwa Kenji, a Tokyo police official, said the exercises also helped inform the public about emergency traffic regulations.

He stressed the importance of preparation and said that relevant organizations were planning to enhance cooperation.
