China warns of Hong Kong elections – BBC News

The Chinese government has responded to the victory of pro-democracy candidates in the Hong Kong elections by stressing that the city will always be governed from Beijing – and has warned against further protests. Pro-democracy candidates won nearly 90 percent of the seats in local elections. The result is direct rejection of Carrie Lam’s leadership and tremendous support for protests against Beijing that have been going on for months. Rupert Wingfield-Hayes Hong Kong reports.
