Earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 were recorded in Chikkabalpura | India latest news

The first two earthquakes were recorded at 7.10 am on Wednesday, with the epicenter about 1.4 km from the Mandikal Gramma Panchayat on the Chikkabalapura Taluka border at a depth of 11 km.

At least two earthquakes of magnitude 2.9 and 3.0 struck Chikkabalpura district, about 60 kilometers from Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning, according to the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA).

The first two earthquakes were recorded at 7.10 am on Wednesday, with the epicenter about 1.4 km from the Mandikal Gramma Panchayat on the Chikkabalapura Taluka border at a depth of 11 km.

The second was recorded at 7.14 am, 1.23 kilometers east of Bhogaparthi village of Adagallu Grama Panchayati in the same Taluka at a depth of 23 kilometers, KSDMA said in a statement.

“According to the seismic intensity map of the mentioned earthquakes from the epicenter, the observed intensity is low and tremors may be felt up to a maximum radial distance of 10-15 km. These types of earthquakes do not cause any harm to the local community, although there may be slight shaking that is Observed locally The KSDMA said in a statement on Wednesday that “the community does not need to panic because the intensity observed is low and not devastating.”

The quakes come a day after the city of Bengaluru registered 3.3 on the Richter scale on Tuesday.

“Earthquake, Magnitude: 3.3, Occurred on 12-12-2021, 07:14:32 IST, Latitude: 13.55 & Long: 77.76, Depth: 23 km, Location: 66 km NE Northeast Bengaluru, Karnataka,” National Center Seismologist said in a post on Twitter on Tuesday. Two months ago, a series of earthquakes was recorded in the northern part of the state.

Earthquakes were recorded in Kalaburagi, Bidar, Vijayapura and other places with a magnitude of about four on the Richter scale, but tremors were felt 50-60 km away by residents.
