Two American brothers have been remaking the same hard candy that’s been around since 1987

Two New Hampshire siblings have got their skills redrawn vacations into art—they’ve been passing the same hard candy back and forth for over 30 years.

It all began in 1987, when Ryan Wasson gave Frankford’s 10-roll “Santa Candy Book” in assorted fruit flavors to his brother, Eric Wasson, as a Christmas prank, knowing that Eric wouldn’t like it.

“I didn’t eat them,” Eric Wasson told WMUR-TV.

“So the next year I thought, ‘Hey, I think I’m going to give it back to him. He will never remember. “

But Ryan realized it right away.

They have taken turns ever since, keeping a record of the exchanges between them.

And they’ve become very creative in this.

Ryan Wasson told the station that the candy had been frozen into a block of ice and put into a jelly-o, adding, “Once he sewed it into a teddy bear.”

The tradition also included family members, co-workers, and even the sheriff’s oath.

Last year, it was presented to Ryan Wasson on a silver platter at a restaurant.

This year, Ryan Wasson turned to a group on social media for ideas.

Suggestions included arriving by pizza delivery or Christmas carolers, hiding it in a book or cake, or conducting a scavenger hunt with clues.

“If you ask anyone who has ever done the best in terms of serving these things, we’ll both say it’s the same, right?” Ryan Wasson said.
