Wagin earthquake shook with the tremors I felt in places as far away as Perth

The earthquake that originated in Whitbelt in Western Australia was felt as far away as Perth on Tuesday morning, with locals taking to social media to describe the moment they felt the earth shake.

The 4.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded at 5.24 a.m. in Wagen, according to the federal government’s Geoscience Australia website.

That area has seen a number of small earthquakes in the past week, but the one on Tuesday morning was the strongest.

Wagin Shire President Philip Plaitt said it felt a “disturbing start” and then “felt like a truck going past.”

“(The bang) built up and lasted long enough to know it was an earthquake,” Cr Blight said.

It is said that the huge ram of Wagin is fine and survived the earthquake.

Cr Blight told The West Live that Bart was “still standing there in all his glory” on Tuesday morning.

Bart was built in 1985 and is visited by thousands of tourists every year.

Lisa Scavidi, the former mayor of Perth, took to Twitter to ask her followers if anyone else felt the earthquake in Perth moments after it happened.

Its followers responded quickly, with many confirming that they actually felt the earthquakes in the metropolitan area.

Mrs. Scafidi said she closed her eyes but felt the bed shake.

Others took to Facebook community groups, with one person in Highgate saying they felt the earthquake while another person in Margaret River also noticed the ground shaking.

On Twitter, the Weather WA account tweeted that their house was “little shaking” and the floor under their chair looked like it had moved.

In 1968, Western Australia experienced the largest earthquake ever, with a magnitude of 6.9 and its epicenter in the town of Whitbelt in Meering.

The October 14 earthquake could have been felt 700 km away destroying highways, water pipes and destroyed buildings in the small town of Whitbelt. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Wagen is located more than 200 kilometers southeast of Perth and is known for its wheat and sheep industry.

It is also famous for its giant ram statue, a tourist destination in the region. Early reports indicate that the famous teacher was unharmed.

Readers flocked to Facebook’s PerthNow page this morning to report that they felt earthquakes in Thornlie, Bunbury, Midland, Canning Vale, Collie and Huntingdale.
