On October 7, 2021, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake hit the Harnai district in the Balochistan region of Pakistan. As a result of the earthquake, 20 people were killed, more than 500 were injured, 12,502 homes and shops were damaged (PDMA / DDMA). This first phase emergency response project will provide immediate humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected people in Balochistan. 500 families (approximately 3,020 people) in the Harnai District are supported with food baskets, NFIs and hygiene items including PPE-friendly equipment.

Phase one: Islamic aid under its humanitarian programme, with the support of Provincial and District Disaster Management Authorities (PDMA/DDMA) in Balochistan, has reached 3,020 earthquake-affected individuals: food rations for a month, non-food items, jerry cans, solar lamps, Kitchen sets and toiletries. The project aims to save lives and protect vulnerable communities in Pakistan during this national crisis.

Phase 2: Islamic Aid provides permanent one-room shelter, winter supplies, disability-friendly equipment and livestock distribution/livestock support to earthquake-affected people in Harnai District, Balochistan. Islamic aid will reach 6,020 individuals in the second phase of the earthquake response, in total 9,040 individuals will directly benefit from MAP interventions.
