Puerto Rico remains seismically active, with the USGS reporting 24 earthquakes in the last 24 hours and 447 in the last month; While the island was preoccupied with shaking, no damage or casualties were reported and there was no danger of a tsunami at this time.
Of the 24 earthquakes measured in Puerto Rico in the past 24 hours, the four strongest were 3.9, 3.6, 3.2, and 3.1 on the Richter scale. While people in Puerto Rico report feeling shaken by these earthquakes, the earthquakes were not strong enough to cause any problems, including damage, injuries, and tsunamis.
The 4.3 that hit yesterday prompted the National Weather Service’s Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu, Hawaii to issue a bulletin. In their publication, they report that “Based on all available data, there is no tsunami risk to Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, or the British Virgin Islands from this earthquake.” However, they added, “People may have experienced shaking from the earthquake.” The center in Honolulu is responsible for issuing bulletins on tsunami threats to the eastern and Gulf coasts of the United States.
While two earthquakes struck the northern Virgin Islands today, most were centered around southwest Puerto Rico. Because of the southwestern location of those earthquakes, it is likely that the recent earthquakes are aftershocks from a seismic event that unfolded in 2020. In January 2020, 6.4 caused severe damage in Puerto Rico, including widespread power outages across much of the island. A swarm of earthquakes started there in December 2019 and the seismic disturbances have continued ever since.
These earthquakes occur near the northern edge of the Caribbean Plate, which is a predominantly oceanic tectonic plate that lies under Central America and the Caribbean Sea off the northern coast of South America. The Caribbean Plate borders the North American Plate, the South American Plate, the Nazca Plate, and the Cocos Plate. These plate boundaries are home to ongoing seismic activity, including frequent earthquakes, occasional tsunamis, and sometimes volcanic eruptions.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
