WHO welcomes new vaccine funding
The WHO welcomes the financial commitments made today Global Vaccine Summit, Hosted practically by the UK government. The summit is Gavi, the third conference on the promise of an alliance and followed a successful summit in Berlin in January 2015.
The new promises will enable Gavia to protect the next generation and reduce disease inequality by getting an additional 300 million children vaccinated by 2025.

“But vaccines only achieve their true power when they are set up to protect the poorest and most vulnerable. The COVID-19 pandemic reveals many of the gains we have achieved through a vaccination campaign against polio, cholera, measles, diphtheria and meningitis. “
Bold funding commitments mean that the Gavi Alliance will be able to better sustain immunization in lower-income countries, mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. They will also help strengthen health systems.
